Beatrice’s creator- Sayo Yasuda- was born from the assault Kinzo Ushiromiya forced upon his daughter, Beatrice Ushiromiya. From then, the life of that baby was cursed with misfortune. Having been lied to for her entire life, Sayo’s upbringing was characterized by that deceit and emotional neglect. The notions of the witch “Beatrice” for Sayo began with her hatred towards the other servants she was supposed to live with- she imagined a witch who could take revenge on her bullies, and then imagined that same witch consoling her.
Then, Beatrice was given more of a life of her own.
Because Sayo did not know that she carried the blood of the Ushiromiya’s, she made the unfortunate mistake of falling in love with three of the cousins of the family. The catalyst of her love was Battler Ushiromiya- the boy who promised he would let Sayo escape the island and live with him, only to leave the family registry due to the conflicts he had with his father; forgetting about the promise he made with Sayo to bring her off the island.
…….. When Kinzo and his favored servants finally told Sayo the truth behind her birth, she realized the grave error behind who she had chosen to love. And when she found out Battler would be returning for the family meeting that same year, she decided to give up everything and end the existence of the Ushiromiya family– to end her own existence.
From there, the witch Beatrice was born of love.Beatrice.Listen.I am giving you my love for Ushiromiya Battler.You must become the kind of woman Battler likes.Take the golden hair he likes.Take the blue eyes he likes.Take this personality that matches his.And then, ..... you must love him in my place.And then, if possible, you must be loved by him.I...... can no longer love him.Beatrice was created with the purpose of loving Battler Ushiromiya. Her combination is that of the legend of the witch that has existed among the Ushiromiya family on Rokkenjima island for as long as it has existed, and the love for Battler Ushiromiya that has existed among humans. She is cruel, but not entirely unkind. She spites Battler for the torture his absence put her creator through, but she loves him just as much as she torments him.
From there, Beatrice’s own story was written.
After the massacre that occurred on Rokkenjima Island, Beatrice dedicated herself to claiming to be the sole culprit behind the massacre. She asserted that the massacre could only have occurred with her magic. From there, in the meta world (a world beyond humans that is thoroughly populated by witches), she began a long and arduous game with Battler as he attempted to prove that her magic didn’t exist. Unknown to him, Beatrice’s true goal through the games was to get Battler to understand her and, hopefully, return the love she has for him.
After many great trials.
After her own surrender.
After her own death and resurrection.
Battler finally returned.
He finally understood her.
And thus, the two were able to exchange rings and pledge to be together for all eternity.
And now, the two live in the Golden Land, a place where Beatrice and all the lost souls of the Ushiromiya family can exist happily together.
